Co-op Atlantic McEwen Scholarship: $1,000
Two university entrance awards of up to $4,000 each are open to employees and dependants of employees of Co-op Atlantic and its member co-operatives. The scholarship is also open to dependants of members and members of member co-operatives of Co-op Atlantic. This is $1,000 scholarship that is renewable for up to four years. Selection criteria include academic performance, demonstrated leadership ability and interest in co-operation and co-operatives. Applications must be accompanied by a 500 word essay, outlining the applicant's past experience and aspirations for the future as it relates to co-operatives in contemporary society. P.E.I. Mutual Education Trust Fund Centennial Scholarship
Twenty entrance scholarships available to P.E.I. students that are attending any post secondary institution. The amount in 1997 was $500. This amount can vary from year to year. Selection criteria are based on academic performance and financial need. Deadline: May 31.
P.E.I. Women's Institute Education Scholarship: $500
Presented annually to a deserving student, male or female (ages 17-25) residing on the Island whose mother, grandmother or guardian is an active WI member. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in any program at any post secondary institution. Applicants are judged on self-motivation, community spirit, and need. Applications should be accompanied by academic records, a personal resume indicating previous awards/scholarships, a 100-word essay on "Women's Institute in the Community" and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, as well as a clergy or employer.
