Music The Music program at Alberton Elementary gives students the opportunity to experience and learn about music in many ways. The classroom material is based on learning to read notes and rhythms. This is done through singing and playing the classroom instruments. Students also learn about various instruments, how to recognize them, and how they make a sound. The children also develop an appreciation for the various musical styles through listening to and learning about many great composers. All students have music class taught by a music specialist for thirty minutes every second day. Students also have an opportunity to participate in many extra-curricular musical activities. Rehearsals usually take place during noon hour. Students in Grades 1 to 6 may join the school choir. The choir meets once a week and takes part in the Remembrance Day ceremony, the Christmas concert. The school has approximately sixty recorders which students can borrow. Students in G4 can take part in the Beginner Recorder Group. Students in Grades 5 and 6 may join the Senior Recorder Group. Each group meets once a week and they take part in the Christmas concert and the West Prince Music Festival.
