Principal's Message
2009 - 2010
Welcome, students, parents and staff to a new school
year!
This year we have put together a "Parent-Student
Information Package" that contains both general and classroom specific
information we believe will be helpful to our parents and students. I am hoping
that you will keep it in a good place for easy access. As further information
comes home over the school year, you can add to the package. As well, use it as
a place to store forms and other temporary information (e.g. permission forms)
that you will need to find.
It is my hope that we all begin this year with great
expectations for a positive year in which we all grow as learners. It is
most often considered that it is the students that come to learn, but the staff
at Amherst Cove will grow as professionals and our parents will grow in their
knowledge as parents and as important supports to their children’s learning.
Let’s all support one another in these efforts!
As the year begins, I hope each of us will identify
some personal goals to work towards. Whether we succeed or do not quite achieve
those goals, we have set in motion a positive direction for the year ahead.
We are beginning Year 2 of our School Development
Process. Last year we collected important information from students, staff and
parents to help determine the goals we need to set as a school community. Areas
we will be focusing on are; reading comprehension, communication and code of
conduct.
Our teachers recognize the importance of good contact
between home and school. Our teachers will be in touch if they have any
questions or concerns. It is important that parents contact teachers if you have
any questions, concerns or information you need to share. Let’s keep our lines
of communication open to be sure we all know what we need to know to support the
children in our care.
I look forward to a positive and success year for all!
