Principal's Message
Welcome to Amherst Cove Consolidated
School. Our school is located at the foot of the Confederation Bridge along the
Northumberland Strait in Borden-Carleton, P.E.I. Amherst Cove has 168 students
in grades 1-8 in our beautiful school. The local kindergarten is also operated
within the confides of the school.
At Amherst Cove, students have access to
a state of the art Industrial Arts workshop that students complete wood working
and ceramic activities. The school also has a Home Economics lab that allows
students to learn cooking and sewing skills. We have a well-equipped computer
lab that has twenty-eight computers and a LCD projector. Classes are also able
to complete art projects in our spacious Art Room.
Our active Home and School Association
has fund raised for many pieces of playground equipment, including; swings,
climbers and soccer nets. Our large playground includes basketball courts, a
full size soccer field, a baseball field and a great deal of equipment to play
on. We have many acres of green space with a view of the Northumberland Strait.
Amherst Cove is has a strong
interscholastic and intramural programs. We have male and female teams in most
of the following sports; soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton,
cross-country, track and field and softball.
Fishing, farming, tourism and
manufacturing are the main industries in our area. In the summer, our beautiful
beaches are very popular, while in the winter students and family members flock
to Gateway Arena, our local rink, to enjoy hockey and skating. Our students and
staff enjoy using the Confederation Trail located nearby our school for biking,
jogging, and walking.
The main focus at Amherst Cove is on
academics and our highly trained staff provide excellent teaching skills to help
students become successful.
