From the Library
Are you struggling with too much homework, it’s too difficult, or it takes
way too long? Perhaps you need to get some help. Find an adult to bounce ideas
off of – a parent, guidance counselor or teacher. Perhaps you misunderstood
something, you’re in way over your head, or the teacher doesn’t realize that
he’s going too fast through the material. Don’t give up, but sometimes an
outside viewpoint will help you see what you can do to make sure you don’t
suffer for too long. A good general rule is that homework should be an average
of 10 minutes per grade, 4-5 times a week. For example, if you’re in grade 10,
that’s an average of 1 hour and 40 minutes per night, 4-5 times a week or 6-9
hours per week. If you’re doing way less, boost your efforts by adding in some
studying – make study notes, review your notes, practice some math questions.
You’ll be glad you did come test time. Take a break every half hour – get up,
stretch, move around a little, dance, get a drink, something to give you and
your brain a change of pace. All work and no play make brains dull. School and
homework are important. But if you don’t have a chance to have fun, your work
will not be top notch. Information borrowed from: This is Literacy

A reminder to everyone to search for library books around the house and
return them to the library, thanks!

Thanks to everyone who bought and sold chocolate oranges, while we were
selling them. We were able to raise close to $300 for the school and eat yummy
chocolate! Our next fundraiser is for the Easter Seals Campaign. Each classroom
will have a canister in their room for 3 weeks, to collect for our presentation
to Paxton Cole on April 22nd when she comes to visit us. This would be a great
way to use up your pennies and support a great cause at the same time!
In April, we will be having a GREEN & YELLOW DAY on the 19th. This is a
Spirit Trophy challenge, can 9-2 hold onto the trophy or will another class take
the prize?
