Ms. Bacon's class recently completed a poetry unit.  Over several weeks, students explored concepts such as alliteration, metaphor and simile which are devices that poets often use in their writing.  Students also analysed literary images,  and wrote their own poetry.  The unit began with a reading of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi", and was brought to closure with a celebration at the "Yellow Taxi Cafe" in their classroom.   While enjoying hot chocolate and snacks, students read and shared their poems in a coffee-house type setting!

The following is a sample of  the poetry written by
Ms. Bacon's language arts students.
