The Hook

Once upon a time there was a haunted house at the top of a spooky hill. People say the story went like this...

There was a man and his wife who built the house in 1894. They moved into the house just after they built it.

After the first year the husband started going insane. The next month he couldn't stand it anymore. His wife kept trying to make him get help, but he knew what he saw was real. He was so fed up with her that he murdered her. He killed her with a hook. She tried to get away but she couldn't. Now, they say that on a full moon you can see their ghosts walking around the house.

One night on a full moon there was a bunch of children, around 13- 14 years old, playing Truth or Dare. One girl was dared to go and look in the window of the haunted house. This was a big thing. It was really scary because nobody had been up there for years.

The girl was gone for a long time and it was getting late. They all went home because they all thought she had chickened out and went home by herself.

The next morning one of the girls called her friend to see why she had gone home. She wasn't there. Her mom said she thought she had stayed at a friend's. She told her friends mom how they had been playing Truth or Dare and that she hadn't come back.

Everyone went out looking for her, and they found her hanging from a tree by her arm. They say that she thought she saw something and she started to run down the hill through the trees. Her sleeve got caught on a tree branch. She thought the man who had killed his wife with the hook had grabbed her with the hook, and she died of fright!
