When Spiders Attack
A large group of boys were walking home from school when they came
upon a tree full of huge spiders. All of the branches were covered in
webs and every once in a while a fat spider would fall to the ground.
Being boys, the spiders didn't have an effect on them, except for
Billy, who was a short, brown haired boy and who was terrified of
spiders. He stood staring at the tree with his mouth open in fright.
Later that night Billy was at his friend John's house when John brought up the subject of spiders.
"I know you're afraid of them," he said.
"I am not," Billy spat back not wanting his friend to think he was chicken.
"Well, if you're not, put this pencil at the bottom of the tree when you go home and I'll see it in the morning," his friend shot back.
"Okay then, I will," said Billy. He headed out the door and walked towards the tree.
It was a cold night and the wind blew in the branches of the trees along the path. The moon reflected off of the spiders backs as they trickled down the trunk.
Billy shoved the pencil into the ground and turned around to leave when he felt a tug at his pants. The spiders had grabbed his leg and were pulling him back.
Around ten o'clock that night Billy's mother called John's house wondering where her son was. John told her that Billy had left his house around supper time.
Billy's mother was nervous for her son, so she went looking for him.
She found Billy at the tree. He was dead with a pencil stuck through his pants. He had thought that the spiders had caught him and he died of fright.
