The Ghost of Billy Black Pistol by Shawn M.

On the 30th of October everybody was rushing to get candy and decorations for Halloween, but not Jason and Freddy. They were just sitting around the corner store which was the only store for miles around in Dead Valley which was the warmest and driest valley around Texas.

They say long ago there was a cowboy named Billy the Black Pistol. He robbed every bank from here to Mississippi. On October 31, 1842, Billy died and was buried with his gold and his pistol in Dead Valley.

Jason didn't believe in those scary stories, so Freddy dared him to dig up the grave and to take a piece of gold and Billy's pistol .

The next night Freddy gave Jason an old black spade, and Jason walked to the cemetary. He heard owls hooting and childeren laughing. There was a full moon, and it was also cold and dark. A small breeze was in the air. Jason was frightened.

When he finally reached the grave, he looked at his watch. It was 10:30 pm. Jason dug and dug. When he was finished, it was 12:45 am. On the long, narrow, black, dirty coffin was a picture of a pistol. Jason had to try three times before it actually opened. In the coffin there was at least $50 000 worth of gold coins and a small one-handed, black, loaded pistol with blood splattered on the tip of it . Jason took a quick look at Billy. He was all bones and had a grey beard. There were spiders, cockroches, and worms going through his head. Jason nearly died from the sight of Billy.

Jason regained his composure, and he took the money and the black pistol. When Jason tried to walk away he felt Billy's hand grabbing at him. Jason thought it was Billy trying to get his money back and he died instantly of fright.

Freddy hadn't seen Jason for a week, so he walked up to Billy's grave and there lay Billy and Jason beside his grave but the grave was not dug up. There was no black pistol or money. While Freddy ran to get the police, he heard Billy's pistol go off and a loud, creepy laugh.

When the police arrived at the graveyard , Freddy showed them where he had seen Billy and Jason. Billy was not to be found, and his grave remained undisturbied. Jason's body was found several meters away with what appeared to be bullet holes through his shirt and an old spade was found near the corpse.

Police say Jason died of a heart attack, some say he died of fright, and others say it was the ghost of Billy who killed him!
