Cordell Hull was the 1945 Peace Prize winner. Hull was born in Tennessee. He served 12 years as U.S. Secretary of State. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his work in the Western Hemisphere, international trade agreements, and also efforts toward establishment of the United Nations.
