
Elie Wiesel was born September 30th, 1928 in Sighet, Transylvania, now a part of Romania. Elie lived with his mother, father and three sisters but at the age of fifteen Elie and his family were deported to Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II. Elie's parents and his two older sisters were killed while he and his younger sister survived.
In
1986 Elie Wiesel was declared a "Messenger to Mankind" and
was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his many books written about
the Holocaust.
Now
the 74 year old Elie Wiesel is a citizen of the US and he continues
to write books about his horrible experiences in concentration
camps. Elie Wiesel has written over 40 books about the Holocaust.
