Jody Williams


Jody Williams was the founding coordinator of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which was launched in October 1992.  Williams has served as chief strategist and spokesperson for the ICBL, which achieved its goal of an international treaty banning landmines during the conference held in 1997.  Ms. Williams has worked for many years developing and directing humanitarian relief projects.  She has written and spoken a lot about the problem of landmines and the movement to ban them.  Ms. Jody Williams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.
