Lech Walesa


Lech Walesa was born on Sept. 29 1943 in Popowo, Poland.  Lech Walesa served in the army and quickly rose to the rank of Corporal.  He is also a strong Catholic.  Lech Walesa has made the name "Solidarity" more than an expression of the unity of a group campaigning for special interests.  In 1983 Walesa received the Nobel Peace Prize After winning the Nobel Peace Prize he was inspired to continue his work with the "Solidarity Movement".
