
Nelson Mandela was born July 18, 1918 in South Africa. Nelson Mandela is widely accepted as the most significant black leader in South Africa. He fought against racial segregation and discrimination. In 1964 he was accused of plotting to overthrow the government and was later sentenced to a life in prison. He spent 27 years in prison. He refused to compromise his political position to obtain his freedom.
Nelson Mandela shared a Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 with Frederik Willem de Klerk for their work for a peaceful termination of apartheid and for a new democratic South Africa.
We all have to find peaceful ways to stop discrimination.
