Rigoberta Menchu Tum


Rigoberta Menchu Tum was the winner of a Nobel Peace Prize in 1992. Rigoberta was born in 1959 in a small town of Guatemala. She had a very difficult childhood. Her family was very poor and she lost family members to things such as being mistreated at work. Rigoberta worked hard as a child , she picked coffee beans , and later was a maid for a white family.  Rigoberta became involved with civil rights at a young age and has been a campaigner for human rights for the indigenous peoples.
