2012 provincial bronze medal in Summerside.
Cobras "AA" Soccer Win Gold 2012!
Congratulations to the Birchwood
Cobras "AA" boys soccer team and their coaches John Michael Murphy and
Sue Deighan who won the 2012 provincial gold medal on Friday,
October 26, at 6:45pm on the University of Prince Edward Island turf, beating
Stonepark 3:1.

Cross-Country Provincial Championship
Congratulations to Edna Nino-Esparza who represented
Birchwood at the Provincial Cross-Country Championships 2012-2013 recently at the Mill
River Resort.

Cobras Win Medal at Provincials 2011

Congratulations to our outstanding Cobra Girls "AA" Basketball team who won
silver at the Provincial Basketball Championships 2011. It has been a
phenomenal season for the team who won several medals, exhibited tremendous
skill, and represented Birchwood in an exemplary manner all year long both on
the court and off! Thank you to coaches Mr. Gregory and Mr. MacCallum. GO

"AA" Cobra Girls Basketball Win GOLD!

Birchwood Cobras "AA" Girls Basketball Team won
back-to-back GOLD medals.
Congratulations to our girls basketball team who won the 4th Annual Miscouche
Mustang Round Up Tournament held January 28-28 at Miscouche Consolidated and
also won the M.E. Callaghan Tournament held February 5-6. We are proud of you!

Cobras Win GOLD for Basketball Skills!

Congratulations
to the Cobra Girls who participated in the Basketball Skills Competition, held
at Miscouche Consolidated, on Friday, January 28. Edna, Bailey, and Sarah
were the athletes who competed for Birchwood and captured the GOLD, winning the
foul-shooting, 3-pointer, and lay-up competitions. GO COBRAS!
Softball Notes
- In the PEISAA league catchers do not have to wear regulation catchers
helmets but must wear a helmet.
- Chin straps on helmets are recommended but not required.
- Players may not wear steel cleats.
- Home team is to provide a new optic game ball and the second ball and
the visiting team will provide a quality 2nd optic ball.
- It is recommended that female catchers wear a cup.
- The 10 Run Rule is in effect for all PEISAA games. The 15 run rule after
3 innings is not in effect.
- All games: Maximum 5 run innings to end of the 5th inning, 6 and 7
inning open
- In the event of an injury, if all players have entered and a player gets
hurt, a player may reenter the game (minor ball rule).
- The double base system for first base is required for all PEISAA games.
- Catchers are required to wear chest protectors.

New Sports Field for Birchwood!

A sports field for Birchwood! The field serves
students who attend the Birchwood feeder schools of Parkdale and
Prince Street. The field includes a regulation size
soccer/football field. It will also have a perimeter walking
track and bleacher seating. It is bordered by Lapthorne Avenue, John Street, Kent
Home Improvement on Allen Street, and the Confederation Trail.
Historically Birchwood students have demonstrated exemplary
athleticism and scholarship for half a century; students and
staff are excited about this new facility. Birchwood is
committed to promoting active living and athletics
programs for youth and the community.
