Computers for Schools, co-founded in 1993 by Industry
Canada and the Telephone Pioneers is a national, volunteer based initiative that collects,
repairs and delivers surplus computers - donated by governments, organizations and individuals
- to schools and public libraries across Canada.
In Prince Edward Island the program is delivered by the Department of Education as the Computers
for Schools and Libraries program. The arrangement is an innovative one with the integration of the
program into the delivery of technical services to the schools and public libraries across the
province.
