Circle of Friends in Eastern Kings

This web site was constructed by Grade 4, 5, and 6 students at Eastern Kings Consolidated School and the Eastern Kings C@P Site. This website was made possible by funding from Tech PEI and is a Between Generations Project.  We would like to thank the Grade 4, 5, and 6 students, Lynne MacPhee, Dawn Ching, Lynne Morrow, Heidi MacDonald and Kara Walsh for their work on this project.  A big thanks to the contributions of Mary Malone, Helen MacIssac and Waldron Leard for sharing their research with us. Also in appreciation of the work Irma Stewart and Mary Walsh did to create the Historical Sketch of Eastern Kings many years ago, its historical information was of great help to us. A special thank you to the many seniors from our community who have shared their stories and photos with us; this project would not be possible without your contributions.

The Grade 4, 5 and 6 class worked very hard on this project and have learned a great deal from it.  They were able to learn how to use some of the technology available at the school, such as the scanner, digital cameras, tape recorders, and to extend their word processing skills.  They conducted and wrote the senior interviews as well as aided in creating the webpage.  Students were able to learn what school was like in different parts of Eastern PEI before consolidation and how education has changed as a result.

The students enjoyed interviewing the seniors and this allowed them to connect with an older generation that they may not otherwise connect with.  This project was a positive experience for everyone involved and something we want to continue in the future
