The leadership class at East Wiltshire is taught as an enrichment course.  Our school has enjoyed many benefits as a result of this program.  The leaders reflect the "for youth, by youth" concept where leaders take an active role in planning and organizing school activities.  The leaders develop a strong sense of ownership in our highly successful intramural program because they have so much input.
    Our leaders help organize intramurals by doing the following;
        *planning and organizing special events
        *making fair teams
        *monitoring and recording participation points
        *publicizing events and monitoring results

    The leadership class are expected to set an example for the student body in terms of sportsmanship, participation, and co-operation.

    We have great participation in our various special event days and have a wide variety of intramural leagues and tournaments.

    The administration and teachers in the school see benefits such as:
        *increased school spirit
        *less problems in the halls at noon
        *class bonding
        *friendly class rivalry

    We feel very fortunate to have a very supportive administration and teaching staff.

    East Wiltshire School  won our second consectutive "National Student Leadership Award" from the Canadian Intramural Recreation Association in 1999.  We expect our student leaders to continue their strong efforts in the new millenium.
