Dear Parent/ Guardian,

Our school is working with the Eastern School Board and the Department of Education to introduce an on-line school effectiveness survey for students and teachers. This initiative will allow students and teachers to have input into school improvement. The name of the survey program is called "Tell Them From Me". It is well researched and can be used to analyse and plan school initiatives as well as enhance programming.

On a weekly basis, a random selection of 20 to 30 students from our school will be asked to complete the survey. All students will eventually be given the opportunity to participate once over the course of this school year. Students will be encouraged to complete the survey, but may choose not to participate if they so wish.

Students completing the survey will be given a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a password. To ensure confidentiality, no student names will be entered when they respond to the survey. When a sufficient number of surveys have been completed to ensure confidentiality, the system provides continuous feedback to teachers and administrators.

The student survey will require about 20 - 30 minutes to complete. It consists of 80 questions measuring aspects related to student engagement, sense of belonging, behaviour, and learning climate of the school.

If you are interested in the format of the survey and the types of questions your son or daughter will be responding to, you can look at a demo by visiting the website: http://www.thelearningbar.com/

You can also view the results of our last year's survey in graphic form. We have compiled the information given to us by last years students in bar chart form. We have studied all the information provided and have based many of our school priorities on the results of the students imput.

We appreciate your continued support. If you have questions about this process please contact:

Vice Principal,

Ken MacDougall
