Emergency Procedures

In the event of an emergency situation where the school has to be evacuated, an evacuation procedure has been established (fire, etc.) by the ELERT TEAM of the school, as required by Eastern School District policy.

Students and staff will exit the building and assemble in the predetermined area. Teachers will do an attendance check and all are accounted for through the principal or designate. If it is determined that students and staff should not re-enter the building, students will walk (under supervision) to Westwood Primary.

If it was then determined that students would be sent home, buses would pick them up at Westwood. In the event of the students being sent home, students will be provided with information about the emergency by means of a general statement or announcement. A debriefing meeting will take place with staff and a letter will be sent home to parents the next school day, to explain what happened and what steps were taken.
