The community of Ellerslie/ Bideford is a small rural community located in West Prince,
Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is famous for Malpeque oysters and lobster.
Ellerslie/ Bideford has a post office, general store, legion,  ball field and gas station.
It also has a rails to trails facility as well  as prepared hiking trails  E
ast Bideford, a
    nearby community, once had Lucy Maud  Montgomery, author of Anne of  Green
   Gables
, as their teacher. Her former residence has been converted to a museum.

    Green Park, in Port Hill, was once a famous shipbuilding site. The Yeo House and Museum are open their during the summer months, as well as camping facilities.

        The main occupations in the area are farming and fishing. The trout river runs behind the school out into Malpeque Bay.

          A popular stopping point for visitors is the newly opened Bideford Parsonage  Museum.  The former residence for ministers of the Methodist United Church,  was also where Lucy Maude Montgomery resided during the time she taught in the Bideford School in the 1894-95 school year. It has three unique themes; shipbuilding,  L. M. Montgomery and the importance of this historical building.

       Other points of interest in the area are the many churches that were built during the    shipbuilding era,  dams,  craft shops,  the Lennox Island Aboriginal community, live theatre,  restaurants, bed and breakfasts as well as various local merchants.
