SPECIAL
PROGRA MS

We have many different projects that we carry out at Ellerslie Elementary!

Music program for all grades: Violin, and Recorder  lessons as well as a school choir are available to those students interested in music.
Buddy Program: Students in grade six are paired with residents in the Stewart Memorial Hospital to read to them and to offer companionship. The students go to the hospital once every two weeks during school hours. This program helps students appreciate people from other generations and gives the residents a chance to interact with the younger generation.
Sports: Intramural and/or interscholastic teams cover many sports, including: soccer, basketball, badminton, wrestling, softball, floor hockey, track and field, and gymnastics.

Science Fair: Every year students in grades four to six are invited to take part in our annual science fair. The fair occurs in March, and students may work individually or with a partner to complete either a display or experimental project. Parents are invited in to view the projects in the afternoon and presentations are made at the end of the day.
Reading Buddies: Every student is matched with a student in another grade, and once in every six days, the students get together and read to each other. This is a great time for sharing books, favorite authors, illustrators, and enjoying each others company.
