There is an extensive Intramural program at Elm
Street School that involves numerous students at recess and noon-hours.
The main objective in the intramural program is to promote fun, co-operation and
physical fitness. It is made up of students in grades 2 - 6. The program is offered to these children on a rotating schodule of grades and activities.
Activities offered throughout the year are: soccer, cross-country running,
hoop-ball, funky dodgeball, floor hockey, gymnastics, badminton, track &
field, softball, softball and basketball (21
tournaments). The students play a set of scheduled games for each sport
and then finish with a series of playoff games. The grade1, 2, & 3
children have an opportunity to participate in an activity in the gym on a
rotating schedule. The Intramural program invites all
students to learn how to play a variety of sports and experience the team
affect. Students who participate will have an opportunity to meet new
friends with similar interests, develop school spirit and socialize in a safe
environment. These activities are also meant to improve the physical
fitness of the individual and encourage the development of great leisure
experiences. The Elm Street School intramural program is
coordinated by Kim McNeill, our physical education teacher, and is run by the
students of the leadership program.
