Elm Street School
Home of the Eagles
Students in grades 1-6 at Elm Street School attend Physical classes for 25 minutes every other day. The program is a progressive one which is geared to children's developmental levels. Students will acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities; in an alternative environment; i.e.; outdoor orienteering, dance, games, problem solving, gymnastics and individual activities. Co-operative learning and the development of social skills are essential components of the Physical Education program at Elm Street School. The children are taught how to play games and sports for enjoyment in an atmosphere where participation and effort are encouraged and valued. The program aims to develop a knowledge and interest in physical activity as a life long pursuit. The physical education teacher, Kim McNeill, runs extensive Intramural and Leadership programs.
