Englewood Home & School Association

Healthy Eating Program

Our program was recently recognized by the PEI Healthy Living Alliance as a “Model of Health” for the province and Kim Matters and Neila Auld represented our Association at a recognition luncheon in Charlottetown recently. The Minister of Health, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Community & Cultural Affairs were presenting the awards that covered many aspects of “healthy living initiatives” across PEI. We all should be proud of our efforts!

No time to volunteer? Perhaps you have a grandparent or family member who would like to help out – particularly with cutting and serving the fruit/vegetable and cheese trays on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Contact Tammy at 855-3070.

Starting Friday, February 24th, Ruth MacPhail will be at the school selling “Lunch Coupon" sheets for $15 (10 coupons) and $30 (20 coupons). This will make it more convenient for parents to pay for menu items in advance by cash or cheque (made out to Englewood Home & School). When submitting the weekly order, simply cut out a $1.50 coupon (including the Coupon#) and submit one coupon for each $1.50 item being ordered from the menu for the following week. We will still accept money for those who do not wish to use these coupons. Ruth will be at the school selling these coupon sheets from 8-9AM the first and last Fridays of every month.

Still collecting Sobeys’ Receipts!

Check out our school web-site – it is loaded with good information for parents. At our last Home & School meeting Mr. Butler discussed “The Homework Page”. Ever wonder what your child is doing in class? What assignments or tests they have coming? This is the place to go!

Mr. Butler has also been kind enough to put information on the Home & School on the site, including weekly lunch order forms, information on the program, a list of volunteers in the lunch and snack program, and recently information on “Campbell’s Soup Label Collection”. On the reverse of this newsletter is also information on what to collect to increase our label points for redemption.

This year the points are going towards the Band/Music program.

What’s in the water at Englewood?

Congratulations to Mrs. Stacey Crabbe (Grade 5 teacher) and her husband on the birth of their first child – a girl. Congratulations to Mrs. Lynn Hufnagel (Grade 1/Vice) on the birth of their first child – a boy! And …..the word is out… Mr. Kent Butler (Grade 7/acting Vice) and his wife are expecting their first child, as is Mrs. Stephanie Rooney (Grade 6).

Be sure to book Thursday April 27 for the last Home & School meeting – speaker to be announced.
