Christmas Celebration: Please note the change in date for our Christmas Celebration. It will be held on Wednesday, December 16th with a 1:15 p.m. performance and a 7:00 p.m. performance.
Christmas Rocks: Englewood students - all grades - will be travelling to the Confederation Centre to see a performance for "Canada Rocks". The cost per ticket is $8 and the school will cover the cost of transportation. Any family with 3 or more children can pay for 2 tickets and additional tickets will be complimentary.
Christmas Ornaments: Englewood School has for sale Christmas Ornaments.
They are a flat silver ornament with "Merry Christmas from Englewood
School". There are only 50 available and will be sold at a cost of
$8 each. You can purchase at the school office or the evening of
the Christmas Concert.
Band Fundraiser: All band students have been given tickets to
sell for a $1000 draw that will be made on the evening of the
Christmas Concert. The money raised will help the band travel to
Halifax for the Atlantic Band Festival at the end of April. Tickets
are $5 each or 3 for $10. Thank you for your support.
Attention Junior High Parents: Are you using Students Achieve (sas.edu.pe.ca) to track your child’s progress and marks? Teachers are now inputting marks regularly and most assignments and quizzes that make up your child’s marks are listed there. If you need more information on this contact, contact Mr. Butler - kabutler@edu.pe.ca. Also, if you are interested in possibly attending a session on this topic here at the school some evening let us know. Let the school know if you are interested, if there is enough interested we will host a session.
Early Morning Drop-Off: There are a number of students being dropped off prior to 8:25 a.m. This causes concern from the school level because of the lack of supervision. We are asking that you contact the school if there is a special circumstance where it is necessary for your child to be dropped off here before 8:25 a.m.
Dress For The Weather: We remind parents and students that the temperatures are getting colder. Please send your child(ren) with hat and mitts and please put their names on articles of clothing, including footwear and jackets. We can return a lost item very easily if the child’s name is on it.
Heritage Fair: This year Englewood School will be taking part in a Heritage Fair - not a Science Fair. Just keeping you informed so students can be thinking about ideas for the spring.
Drive Away Hunger: The Drive Away Hunger Campaign was a great success. The Farm Credit Canada was able to deliver 6238.50 pounds of food to food banks on PEI. The break down of schools was as follows: Kinkora - 637 lbs., Englewood - 1200 lbs. and Kensington - 3658.5 lbs.
Fantastic work!
Lightbulbs: Philips 13w=60w lightbulbs are still available at the Englewood Office - 6 for $10.
Special Note: The first practice for the Englewood Staff Band will be held after school today. This is in preparation for the Christmas Celebration. It is sure to be a treat!!

South Shore United Church Christmas Concert: There is a legend that crickets bring good luck, and this was an inspiration for an upcoming Christmas Concert. "A Cricket on the Hearth" is a concert hosted by the Sorensen Family including Better Howatt and Lorna Lord. Grandpa, who has just finished reading Dickens’ book by the same name, or rather, has fallen asleep while reading the book, is influenced by a cricket he hears singing on his own hearth. The other adults, dubious at first of Grandpa’s assertion, start placing some credibility in the matter after the children echo in agreement with their grandfather. At the end of the program all doubts are removed as Grandpa points out some astounding conclusions that reaffirm some Christmas truths. Whimsical, informative, musical, inspirational, all describe this presentation, suitable for any age of audience.
The concert will take place at the South Shore United Church, #85 Route 10 in Tryon on Monday, November 30, 7:30 p.m. Lunch and a time for socializing will take place afterwards in the Howatt Memorial Centre. Admission is a freewill offering in support of the Church lighting project. For more information call Jack Sorensen at 658-2009.
"A Special Christmas Concert" will be presented at the Crapaud Community Hall on Wednesday, December 2nd at 7:30 p.m., featuring Dino Dunsford and the Harmonies. Tickets are $10 each at the door and advance tickets are available at Harvey’s General Store and the South Shore Pharmacy.
