Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring is a recognized course, approved for use in schools by the Department of Education. It is offered to grade 9 students who are interested in helping out students from grades 1-3 meet the many challenges they encounter in an integrated classroom. They receive training at the beginning of the year, and eventually work on a one to one basis with the student assigned to them.

Benefits of the Program

The students from the primary grades receiving assistance have greater self- esteem, feel more successful in school and share a special relationship with an older student in the school.

The tutors have grown in their ability to empathize, support and encourage others. In turn, the tutors develop their communication, leadership, and organization skills, and discover new gifts and abilities within themselves.
