ACCEPTED AND APPROVED RECOMMENDATIONS

Donagh Regional School |
The
request was to create dual zones that would allow students
residing in Bethel, Mount Herbert, Mount Albion and the 48 Road
to attend Donagh Regional School.

Six
pieces of written input were received in addition to the
original request. The Ad Hoc Committee on School Attendance
Zones also scheduled a public meeting at Donagh Regional on May
17, 2011 to receive input.

Based on
the information received, the Official Trustee accepted and
approved the following recommendation from the Ad Hoc Committee
on School Attendance Zones: |

To create dual zones in
Bethel, Mount Albion and Mount Herbert, giving families a choice
to attend Donagh Regional or Glen Stewart Primary/Stratford
Elementary, to be effective for September 1, 2011. |

(A dual
zone in Avondale was not recommended at this time). |

| Mt. Stewart
Consolidated School |
|
Requests
were received from the Mt. Stewart Home and School Association,
the Chair of the Community of Mt. Stewart and forty-nine parents
and/or community members. |
The
requests were to formally change the school attendance zone for
Mt. Stewart Consolidated School to include the former school
zones of St. Teresa's Consolidated and Tracadie Cross
Consolidated Schools. The new Mt. Stewart Consolidated School
zone will house students from grades K – 8 and these students
will be zoned to Morell Senior High School for grades 9 – 12.

The Ad
Hoc Committee on School Attendance Zones scheduled a public
meeting on May 16, 2011 at Mt. Stewart Consolidated School to
receive input.

Based on
the information received, the Official Trustee accepted and
approved the following recommendation from the Ad Hoc Committee
on School Attendance Zones: |

To formally change the school
attendance zone for Mt. Stewart Consolidated School to include
the former school zones of St. Teresa's Consolidated and
Tracadie Cross Consolidated Schools. The new Mt. Stewart
Consolidated School zone will house students from grades K – 8
and these students will be zoned to Morell Senior High School
for grades 9 – 12, to be effective for September 1, 2011.

In the
course of gathering public input for Mt. Stewart Consolidated,
the committee was informed of some discrepancies in a few
boundary lines. This area affected only a small number of
students. In the interest of not disrupting families, the
District will continue with the status quo until such time as a
comprehensive programming, transportation and rezoning plan can
be completed. |

Public Consultation Process

The Eastern School District Official Trustee is seeking public
input regarding the School Attendance Zones Report for Donagh
Regional and the School Attendance Zones Report for Mt. Stewart
Consolidated which were presented at the April 6, 2011 School
Board Meeting. |
|
Copies of the reports are available above (in .pdf format) or at
the District Office, 234 Shakespeare Drive, Stratford. |
|
A six-week public input process from April 6, 2011 to May 18,
2011 will allow interested persons to express their views in a
number of ways: |

A public meeting will be held at Mt. Stewart Consolidated
School on Monday, May 16, 2011, 6:30 p.m. to receive public
input. (Presenters are asked to provide a written copy of
their comments.)

A public meeting will be held at Donagh Regional School on
Tuesday, May 17, 2011, 6:30 p.m. to receive public input.
(Presenters are asked to provide a written copy of their
comments.) or
