Glen Stewart is Going Green!
The Environmental Awareness Committee has been busy working in coordination with staff and students to help our environment:
~ The Green Team has re-organized for the year. With representatives from each grade level, these students are leading their peers in making more informed, environmentally-friendly choices.
~ We were very fortunate to have Heather Myers as a guest speaker. She addressed each grade level and met with our Green Team to help guide our Waste Watch sorting improvements.
~ Environmental Awareness Week ~ April 21 25 . Plans are underway for our third annual Environmental Awareness week. With trivia, guest speakers and litterless lunches, this week is sure to be successful in helping students, staff and parents be more environmentally conscious.
~ The first collection of ink cartridges for Recycle for Education has been delivered to Staples. We continue to participate in this worthwhile project and encourage all who have empty ink cartridges to support this cause.
~ We want to help the environment, while reaping the financial rewards of such a venture. Presently, the tracking of recyclable items is limited. We have begun collecting plastic bottles and metal cans in advance of the May implementation of the Island recycling program.
The return on each item is 5¢.
