Searching the Catalogue
Our students and staff can access a variety of resources using the MicroCAT cataloguing system. You can search the MicroCAT catalogue, not just from the library, but from any of the school's networked computers.
How?
The catalogue contains records of everything in the library - over 16,000 items including books, CDs, videos and vertical files.
You can use it to find, for example:
-
whether or not we have the book
-
whether something is out on loan or available in the library
-
titles by the same author
Just type in either:
-
the author's name
-
the title
-
a subject
-
a keyword
MicroCAT will answer your query, but ask Ms. Gallé if you need more help.
How do I find the book?
Nonfiction books are organized by subject using the Dewey Decimal System. They are arranged on library shelves according to call numbers. Each book is assigned a call number from 0 to 999 according to its subject mater. This means that all books within a similar subject area are shelved together, e.g. hockey, anorexia. However, all of the PEI collection is shelved just before the 900 area.
Fiction books are arranged on the shelves alphabetically according to the author's last name. French books are located in the conference room.
