"Helping You Reach Your
Vision of the Future"

Being involved in your community is a great way to stay active, meet new people, and gain new skills.  Review the list of activities and clubs offered throughout the year.  Each committee is organized by staff volunteers that advise students and lend a helping hand.

Breakfast Club

The breakfast club provides an early morning meeting place where students can relax and socialize with friends before classes. The club meets on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m in the cafeteria. There are a variety of food choices such as bread, bagels, biscuits, muffins, milk, apple juice, orange juice, granola bars, bananas, and apples. Our goal is to ensure that students start their day off with the proper nutrition. We all know that breakfast is your most important meal of the day, so don’t skip breakfast or classes.

In order to operate effectively, the breakfast club relies on people to volunteers their time. If you are interested in being a server for breakfast club, then drop by in the morning and tell us you would like to help. We will collect your information and get you involved. The 2005-2006 in-school coordinator is Jerry.  Ms. Jenkins also provides assistance to the breakfast program.

Envirothon

"Envirothon promotes environmental education through the development of knowledgeable, skilled and dedicated citizens who are willing to work toward achieving and maintaining a natural balance between the quality of life and the quality of the environment."

Envirothon meets Tuesday and Thursday for the lunch hour during the months of September and October.  Each year, our students enter the provincial Envirothon competition which is usually held in late October.  They compete against high school students from across PEI by demonstrating their knowledge  of natural resource sciences such as forestry, wildlife, aquatics, soils and water stewardship. Hopefully, we will win the provincial championship and then move on to the North American Envirothon competition which is held in various locations in North America.  The 2004 competition was held in Missouri, USA

Newspaper - Gray Matter

The Gray Matter newspaper committee includes students who are interested in journalism and enjoy reporting and writing.  We publish a 10 - 12 page newspaper as often as we can, usually monthly or better, with stories in English and French reflecting the Colonel Gray community.  New members are always welcome to join us.  Bring your lunch and your story ideas.  Check the announcements for meeting time and place.

Peer Education

Political Science Club

The club meets weekly from September to June to talk about politics and discuss current political and economic issues.  The club participates in and sends delegates to various provincial and national activities such as the PEI Model Parliament, the John Peters Humphrey Model United Nations at Saint Thomas University, the National Student Commonwealth Forum, the Forum for Young Canadians, and the Interchange on Canadian Studies.  This year, we have taken up the task of learning some debating skills.  The club is open to all students; you do not have to be registered in a Political Studies course.  Bring your lunch and join the conversation!  Check the announcements for meeting time and place.
