The Colorado Avalanche is an NHL team and they were around since 1995. They had many good seasons. Here is some information about their team!!!

History
They were the Quebec Nordiques from 1972-1995. The Nordiques changed to the Colorado Avalanche because they (Nordiques) didn't have enough money to keep the team (Nordiques). The Nordiques never won a Stanley Cup until they became the Colorado Avalanche.

Stanley Cups
In 1996, Colorado beat Vancouver in the first round. Colorado beat Chicago in the second round. Colorado beat Detroit in the Conference finals and then beat Florida in the Stanley Cup finals (four game sweep). They won the Stanley Cup their first season in the NHL . In 2000-2001 Colorado beat Vancouver (again) in the first round. Colorado beat L.A. in the second round. Colorado beat St.Louis in the Conference finals and then beat New Jersey in the Stanley Cup finals.

He was born in Burnaby, B.C., Canada July 7, 1967. His nickname is Mr. Avalanche. He is # 19 but, in the Olympics, he is #91. He played on the Canadian Olympic hockey team many
times. He played only for the Colorado Avalanche (he did play for the Quebec Nordiques but, when the Nordiques changed to the Colorado Avalanche, he came with them). He won two Stanley Cups (both with the Colorado Avalanche). He was drafted in the first round, fifteenth overall, by the Quebec Nordiques.


Pepsi Centre The Pepsi Centre opened in 1999. It started getting built in 1997. It cost $160 million and fits 19 099 people. This is the Colorado Avalanche's home arena.
