Gulf Shore is unique in that it has the only mid-Immersion program on Prince Edward Island. Students have the choice of continuing their education in English or entering into French Immersion at the beginning of Grade 4.

This began as a pilot program in 1991 after the community worked with Department of Education to explore all the options available. Since North Rustico is historically a French Acadian community, it was decided that something special was needed here to embrace this cultural heritage. In addition to this special Immersion program, we are also the only Island school to offer Core French at the primary level (Grades 1, 2 & 3), as we feel it is a good preparation for those who choose to enter into Immersion and it is also a great way to show all students a part of their French culture.
