School Tour
Gulf Shore is nestled in a natural environment where land meets the sea. We look down the rolling hills to the fishing harbour of North Rustico and our backdrop is Nature’s Stadium, our very own outdoor classroom, tucked in the middle of our wood land. We know our fortune when we can take a stroll through our nature trails or look up and watch with awe the family of Osprey who come to nest on our property year after year.
Nature’s Stadium hosts an outdoor classroom where students can sit in the middle of our forest and be inspired by nature. Students can read, write, explore, study exercise, act or simply enjoy a moment in time under the canopy of leaves and blue sky, listening to the sounds of nature. We work with our environment, respecting it, protecting it and making sure that we give back to it so that our woodlot is part of our student learning for years to come.
Gulf Shore School is also a “green school” because we have a wind turbine on site. In cooperation with the village of North Rustico, we are benefiting from the energy produced. The school aims to strike a balance between preserving our natural environment and educating our students on renewable energy.
Students at Gulf Shore enjoy the wide open spaces that our playground offers. Recently our playground equipment was updated and children have many options on how to spend their recess time. We have soccer fields, a ball diamond, tennis courts and basketball courts. And when winter season is upon us, we can go sledding, skiing, and snow-shoeing in our backyard.
