Solar Power Plant

Description

Sunlight, also known as solar power, can be used to generate electricity, provide hot water, and to heat, cool, and light buildings. Solar panels collect sunlight and convert it into electreicity.

The Production of Power from Solar Energy

Step One: Photovoltaic panels convert sunlight directly into electricity. The panel contains semiconducting material that absorbs sunlight.
Step Two: The solar energy knocks electrons loose from their atoms and by flowing through the material they create electricity.

Advantages of Solar Power

Disadvantages of Solar Power

  • Will never run out of solar energy
  • Is not a consistent amount(ex.cloudy days)
  • No harm to the enviroment
  • Large initial set-up cost
  • Low running cost
  • Solar panels have to be very numerous and large

  • I couldn't find out about any plants in Canada but there are Solar Power Plants in Arizona and Texas.
