Wind Power Plants

Description

Wind Power Plants are used to create vast amounts of energy to power homes, and buildings by using wind to generate energy through the use of turbines and generators.

The Production of Power from Wind Energy

Step One: The wind blows.
Step Two: The wind turns the turbines.
Step Three: The turbines turn the generator(s).
Step Four: The generator (s) turn the windmills.

Advantages of Wind Power *

Disadvantages of Wind Power

  • Low cost
  • Is affected by different land masses
  • The wind will not run out
  • More expensive
  • It doesn't harm the environment
  • The wind is unpredictable

  • One wind power plant in Canada is in North Cape, Prince Edward Island. It is called the North Cape Wind Farm . It is the first wind farm ever on P.E.I.
Another wind power plant is the Cowley Ridge Wind Farm, near Pincher Creek, Alberta. It was on of the first wind farms in Canada .
