Mt. Fuji, Japan

Standing 3776 meters above sea level and 3500 meters above the surrounding land Mt. Fuji has not had any known fatalities. This is probably the main reason that over 200,000 people climb it every year, 30% of the people who do climb Mt. Fuji are forgivers.
Fuji means "fire" which is good since it has erupted over 20 times since 1709 BC, however it has not erupted in 300 years which means it is as good to live by as it is to have in your wallet. A picture of Mt. Fuji is featured on the 500 yen bill.
Mt. Fuji actually consists of three volcanoes, Komitake, Ko-Fuji (the old Mt. Fuji) and the present Fuji.
Being the highest mountain in Japan it has had its earth shattering moments, but until it happens again it will remain as a peaceful mountain.
Mt. Fuji Shinto Goddess
"Lo! There towers the lofty peak of Fuji
from between Ka and wave-washed Swuga,
The clouds of heaven dare not cross it,
Nor the birds of air soar above it.
The snows quench the burning fires,
The fire consumes the falling snow.
It baffles the tongue, it cannot be named
It is a spirit mysterious ."
