Tech Tools Tutorial Site
The Process of Developing this Resource Comments from other schools

Introduction to our Tutorial Site

At KISH, our goal is to have lots of tech equipment available in our school and of course we want people to feel comfortable using it so that they use it often. We have a small tech team of teachers who have taught many students and other teachers how to use the tech equipment, but we realize that a small team cannot be the exclusive support for over 500 people! We thought that if had a website with the information about how to use these pieces of equipment, it would be a huge help to others so that they can figure out how to use the scanner on their own during a week evening or on a weekend for example. The students in CMP 621 thought it would be better if we had online support written by students for students. The lessons can be used to introduce people to the equipment or for a refresher. This site was developed by grade 10, 11 and 12 students.

They used a variety of techniques to present their tutorials including web pages created using Notepad or FrontPage, slide shows converted to html, and PDF files. To add interest to their page, they identified complex steps that could be presented visually and then used the digital camera, the scanner and Paint ShopPro to capture screen images, and then save those as JPGs then insert them in the tutorial.

Our students are proud to help others and we hope you find our tutorials helpful.  Thanks for visiting our site!
