As the senior high computer
teacher at KISH, I have taught many students how to use various software
programs. We have only a limited number of print manuals (some written for
teachers and not students!) for some of the software and students do not
have any texts in CMP 521 and CMP 621. We thought it would be better if we
had online support written by students for students so that they could
study and get help from home. The lessons can be used to introduce
students to the software and then to reinforce what had been taught during
class, and is really helpful for a student who needs a little more review
or who has been absent from classes.
This site was developed by
grade 10, 11 and 12 students to help other students learn about the most
common software applications used in PEI Junior and Senior high schools.
Many students like to learn about computers by using online tutorials, and
KISH students were enthusiastic about creating and publishing pages that
would help other students learn how to use the software programs.
They used a variety of
techniques to present their tutorials including web pages created using
Notepad or FrontPage, slide shows converted to html, and PDF files. To add
interest to their page, they identified complex steps that could be
presented visually and then used Paint ShopPro to capture screen images,
and then save those as JPGs then insert them in the tutorial.
Our students are proud to help
others and we hope you find our tutorials helpful. Thanks for
visiting our site!
