Course Description
FAM 425A - FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION - Academic - ½ credit
This personal development course has themes on relationships, human sexuality and
healthful living. It is intended to help students understand and appreciate values, interests and abilities
within themselves and others. Students understand a variety of skills, attitudes and behaviours that
promote successful relationships, assume responsibility for personal health and well-being and to
enhance the central roles played by work and family in daily life. Its main focus is on adolescence. The
course is designed to be participatory, with emphasis on effective communicating and decision making.

| Attendance Policy |
Being in class on time ensures students get the most out of classes. Students are responsible for lessons and activities even if they missed or were late for the class. |
First Late/unexcused absence |
gentle warning by teacher; noted on student's attendance record. |
Second Late/unexcused absence |
stern warning by teacher; noted on student's attendance record; |
| Third Late/unexcused absence |
even sterner warning; call parents to inform of problem; noted on student's attendance record. |
| Fourth Late/unexcused absence |
student not allowed into class; call parents to inform of situation; noted on student's attendance record.
Student goes to academic support room to complete four page had written assignment on the importance of punctuality. The student must complete this assignment in a satisfactory manner to get permission to rejoin the class; student is responsible for all work missed during absence(s). |
