June News
"Personal preferences should never supercede professional responsibilities."
Dear Parents:
It doesn't seem that long ago that we were starting our school year and here we are at the 1st of June. Students are getting anxious to be done but they still have a month ahead of them. I hope it is a good one. A reminder to parents that Gr. 9 students will write their math assessment test on June 14th. It would be great to have all present so as to avoid a rewrite. Student testing in all areas will begin the week of the 18th. Good luck to all.
Golf, Track and Field, and Softball are coming to a close and all teams are doing very well. Thank you to Mr. Sullivan, Ms. Rogers, Ms. Thomas, Ms. Buchanan and Mr. Morgan for their dedication and hard work with these teams. I would also like to take this time to thank all staff for their hard work and dedication throughout this year. All of you help make this school a better place.
To the students, good luck in your final evaluations and to our Gr. 9 students I hope you have a great three years at Westisle and take opportunities to become involved in various activities. May all of you have a great summer.
To the parents, thank you for your support over the past year, and I look forward to working with you next year.

Principal

Home and School Fund-Raiser Info.
Thank you to KoraLee Gallant and Doug Lyon (teacher reps), the Home and School Committee, and Paula Mazerolle for all the work they did for the fund-raiser. It was a great success thanks due to the effort of students, parents, and staff as a team. We hope to have the George Connick Cardio room operational for the fall. It won't be fully equipped but it will be a great start. Special thanks also to Rene Tremblay who helped locate the equipment for us.
Music
The Westisle family of schools closing band concert set for June 5th has been cancelled for this year. Uniforms, music and instruments are to be returned to the school on or before June 7th, 2007. Please ensure band uniforms are washed before returning.
The Most Outstanding Band Member Awards scheduled to be passed out at the closing concert will now be distributed at a later date.
Grade 7 and 8 students who wish to upgrade their instruments must return their instrument as indicated and at the end of the month when you return to the school for your report card you may make an exchange then.
Thank you to the band parents association for their ongoing support and assistance throughout the year as our music program could not be successful without your work.

Track and Field
We had a great turn out for Track and Field this year. 39 students came out in the beginning, with 35 moving on to the Unit One Zones meet at Evangeline School, May 22nd. We endured a cold day but all athletes performed very well with 33 advancing to compete in their respected events at Provincials. Our Bantam and Midget girls division captured first place overall in points, with our Bantam and Midget boys obtaining second place overall in points. Provincials will be held this Saturday, June 2nd at Bluefield High School. Good luck to all who have been training very hard in their individual events!
