As part of our weather unit, we used AppleWorks as a word processor to record what we learned about weather. Here's what some of us said:

During the past few months in grade five we have learned a lot about weather. One thing I’ve learned about is acid rain. Acid rain that falls into lakes, rivers and oceans can kill or harm fish. If the PH level is lower then 4.2 then all of the fish will die. If the PH level is 4.3 to 5.0 most of the fish will not survive, But if the PH level is higher then 5.0 then all the fish will survive.

During the past few months in grade five we have learned a lot about weather. One thing I’ve learned about is a chinook. I learned that a chinook can turn winter into summer in minutes. I would like to see one some winter because it sounds cool.

During the past few months in grade five we have learned a lot about weather. One thing I’ve learned about is the beaufort scale. The beaufort scale is a scale that teaches us the kinds of winds and how fast they blowing, and how much damage it causes. Some types of winds are a moderate breeze, a gentle breze, and a hurricane. There are twelve types of winds listed in the beaufort scale. Brian

During the past few months in grade 5 we have learned a lot about weather. One thing I learnd about is how to make a wind rose. A wind rose is somthing that tells you what way the wind is blowing.

One thing I’ve learned about weather is that some people can smell rain. Some scientists think that plants give off more scent when the air is moist. Other scientists say that the moisture in the air tickles your sense of smell. That is one thing that I have learned.

One thing I’ve learned about weather is that no two snowflakes are alike. Each snowflake is different in some way. I found it hard to believe at first but it is true.
