Just as there are many components to our human mosaic, there are many different technology tools used by students of multiple grades to create the work presented in this section of our People project. Our Grade 8's and 9's started through Knowledge Forum database collaboration, where they posed their initial questions, theories and plans based on their chosen topic. Next they brainstormed using Inspiration software. Their next technology task was to gather and create various graphics for use in their project, using AppleWorks to create original ones, Internet Explorer to gather images, digital camera for photos, and various programs for clipart. Graphics editing was the next step, through the use of PaintShop Pro. Research for word processing came from interviews with community members, local history books, and online. Once all their information, in both text and graphics form, was gathered, students either used AppleWorks to create slideshows, or Frontpage Express to generate webpages.

For the Grade 1/2's, technology integration took different forms. Initially they learned about scanners, as their unique illustrations were shared with others. They also used enjoyed using Inspiration for their brainstorming about what makes them special. In the course of their Diversity studies, the Grade 1/2's read a lot of different storybooks. They shared some of them with their Reading Buddies in Grade 5, who then assisted them in creating their first graphics using AppleWorks. At the close of their theme, these students had a celebration that was recorded using the school digital camera.

Other Grade 8 students worked in small groups to create Friends brochures, using AppleWorks. These were then scanned and added to this project.
