The official existence date for the United Nations is October 24, 1945. The reason for the building of the UN was to keep global peace. The meetings of formation went from April 25 to June 26, 1945 the day the charter was signed.
Fifty countries sent representatives to San Fransico where the rules and guidelines were made.
The United Nations originated from the league of Nations which was formed by Woodrow Wilson after WW1.
The first aggressive action by the UN was the joining of troops in Korean war. Other large actions include the founding of the Israel,and the Gulf War against Saddam Hussein.
