Along The Line: Photographs of the P.E.I. Railway

PARO Acc. 3900/1

Interior, North Wiltshire Station, 1912

Rural railway stations were often busy places (although it is hard to see why 5 calendars were necessary to keep track of the date.) Besides the many forms and stamps for passenger tickets and waybills for freight, the stationmaster was expected to man the telegraph and keep the station grounds looking efficient. Often a homey touch, such as this window full of geraniums, showed the pride that the stationmasters had in their work.
