About the PEITLA

The Prince Edward Island Teacher-Librarians´ Association (PEITLA) acts as the voice of a group of committed educators dedicated to improving school library programs and services for all students on Prince Edward Island. This means equal access to a wide range of print, non-print and electronic resources; equal access to qualified teacher-librarians who manage the school library facility, and who work with all teachers to develop information literacy and promote lifelong learning.

History of the PEITLA :

From its inception in 1971, the Teacher-Librarians'Association has been comprised of teachers with a strong belief in the importance of school libraries. Its membership has worked continuously for the improvement of library services and resources, for programming and for the continuing education of teacher-librarians in Island schools.
