PRINCE STREET SCHOOL

Prince Street School embarked on a major renovation to its playground during the 2002 - 2003 school year.  Due to the tragic death of Adam Noble in October 2002 and the wishes of his family an overwhelming outpouring of generosity came from all corners of PEI.  This support came in the form of donations of monies, materials, machinery and manpower from community members and businesses within and outside of PEI.

Through the support of community members; efforts from school staff, students, and local business and private businesses a total of $80,000 has been raised.  In-kind services (manpower, machinery and materials) from business totaled approximately $125,000.

Over the course of the summer of 2003 renovations commenced.  Throughout the summer there was an amazing transformation from the old to the new.  Three pieces of playground equipment were installed along with new sod throughout the playground areas in front and back of the school.  A new basketball pad and ball hockey cage were installed, a new busing area was established and all walkways were freshly paved.

We are still in the process of completing the remainder of work for the playground.  This work includes the establishment of a peace garden to be located on the Prince Street side of the school, the addition of more benches throughout the playground, bike rack, fencing and the creation of green areas (flower beds, planting of bushes and trees).

We are still in the process of fund-raising for the playground.  In March 2004 staff and students with the help of their parents completed a successful raffle that raised $5,600.  All monies raised are going towards paying down the outstanding bills that occurred during the summer of 2003.  Currently, these outstanding bills total $25,000.  At this time we are still accepting donations.

The staff, students at Prince Street School would like to thank all of those persons, businesses for their generosity throughout 2002 to 2004.  Without your support the wishes of Adam's family would not have become a reality.

Prince Street School students and staff, would like to take this opportunity to thank all those persons, businesses, service clubs and municipal and provincial governments for their support with the establishment of the Adam Noble Memorial Playground.
