PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Principal’s Message
Welcome everyone to the 2007-2008 school year at Prince Street School.
This handbook provides information about our school, it’s programs, hours of operation, dates and so on. Please read this document and keep in handy for reference throughout the school year.
Prince Street School has a population of approximately 260 students. Our school zone includes areas within Charlottetown and also in Hillsborough Park. We are able to offer a wide variety of programs to our students both curricular, and extra curricular. The students excel at many of these activities, and experience success in a variety of ways.
We at Prince Street School realize that the belief in the value of ones’ education must come from places other than just the school. In order to show this belief to your children, we encourage you to become involved in your child’s education by helping with homework, asking what they are doing presently at school, being a member in your home and school association (Parents Of Prince Street), and becoming an advocate for your child’s education.
We are excited about a number of new programs which will occur within our school and district this year. We will be implementing the rest of the new science curriculum at grades one to six, and the healthy eating policy will mean some changes to our hot lunch program and fund-raising. Also, the Eastern School District will undertake an evaluation of our curriculum outcomes in Language Arts and specialist areas to see to ensure we maintain the high levels of education which are currently being given to your children.
Considerable time and energy has been put into developing rights and responsibilities for staff, students, and parents. We want to ensure that this focus is not lost, and will continue to stress the importance of the equitable, safe education to all who have a stake in it. The Caring Places to Learn policy will continue to be our guide when dealing with behaviour issues, but we will also focus on identifying positive behaviours to maintain a balance.
Sincerely,
Terry MacIsaac
Principal
