JUNE 26th - GRADE EIGHT GRADUATION Our graduates will be honoured at a short program and presentation of awards beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 26th., 2006. Parents, family and friends are invited to attend this program. Guest speaker for the evening will be former student, Kevin Hanlon. JUNE 27th - LAST SCHOOL DAY Students will have regular classes in the morning, a free lunch at noon (BBQ hotdogs, kool-aid and ice-cream hopefully outdoors - weather permitting) followed by the presentation of awards and report cards for Grade 5 -7 students beginning at 1:45 p.m. Parents are invited to attend the presentation of awards. BOOKS Textbooks and library books must be returned and/or accounted for before marks will be released to students. GRADUATION DANCE The Graduation Dance for our Grade Eight students will be held Friday night, June 23rd, 2006, from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. at Rollo Bay School Gym. All Grade 7 and 8 students are automatically invited to attend. Other students, either from Rollo Bay School or other schools, may be invited (maximum of two guests per student) to attend. Guests from other schools must be signed in by 2 p.m. Thursday by a Grade 7 or 8 student. Admission is $4, dress is semi-formal. EQUITY CLASSES The last day for Equity classes will be Wednesday, June 21 for Grade Eight and Friday, June 23 for Grade Seven. THANK YOU We would like to thank all parent volunteers and all others who have supported the school during the past year. Parent volunteers have been especially beneficial to the following programs/activities: School Council, sports activities, the Empty Inkwell fundraiser, school fundraisers, etc. Your interest and support has been a great factor in making our school year a success. SCHOOL SUPPLIES The following is a list of school supplies needed by Grade 5 to 8 students for September, 2006. Please refer to it when you are purchasing your child's school supplies. Pencils Pens Eraser(s) 30 cm Ruler Scissors Glue Sticks 8 Scribblers (single subject) Colored Pencils/markers/crayons Looseleaf Paper Homework Diary (steno pad) Protractor (sold individually at Staples) Calculator (in-expensive) approx $5 8 Duotang Folders (assorted colors) 1 Pad of Graph Paper Indoor Sneakers Pencil Case Case for Art Supplies Grade 5 students 1 - 1" binder Grade 8 students 2 - 1" or 11/2" binders OUTSIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS: ATLANTIC FITNESS EAST SUMMER CAMPS JazzerKamp theme camps will be held July 24 - 28 for ages 6 - 8 years and during August 7 - 11 for ages 9 - 12 years. Both camps run from 1 to 4 p.m. A six week CCA Sprockids Program for ages 9 - 11 years will be held on Tuesdays from 6 - 7:30 p.m. and will begin on July 4th. SOURIS & AREA WATER SAFETY DAY CAMP Registration forms for the swimming and/or boating classes being held July 24 - August 4 are available from homeroom teachers. The cost is $60/each or $140/per family. The first 100 children registered will receive a $10 discount. For more information contact Anne Peters 687-3277 or Peggy MacNevin at 687-3056. NAME THE FOAL CONTEST Canada's national police force is asking children and youth to help name six foals that will be born this spring at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police breeding farm in Pakenham, Ontario. The following rules applies: 1) Submit only one name per envelope. 2) Names must begin with the letter "D" and can be between 1 and 6 letters long. 3) Entries must give name, age, address, telephone number and the suggested name for the foal. 4) The contest is open to children 14 years and under. 5) Mail entry to: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Musical Ride Branch, c/o RCMP Name the Foal Contest, P.O. Box 8900, Ottawa, Ontario, K1G 3J2 6) Entries will also be accepted on the Internet at www.rcmp.ca/musicalride/foal e.htm 7) Entries must be received or post-marked, no later than July 3rd, 2006.
